Hydro-Québec and Cycle Momentum Announce Launch of new Open Innovation Challenge
Cycle Momentum and Hydro-Québec are proud to announce the launch of the Open Innovation Challenge: Greenhouses as part of their Green Economy Week. This open innovation program will aim to promote the development of tech to improve management of the environment and energy sectors in support of the greenhouse sector. The ultimate goal is to accelerate Québec’s transition to food self-sufficiency.
Their first step was to announce a call for expressions of interest to the agri-food business ecosystem. They specifically want start-ups and SMEs who are focused on innovative technologies in the greenhouse farming industry. Companies developing systems to manage energy, lighting, heating, ventilation, AC, irrigation or anything similar are welcomed to apply – the deadline being July 2, 2021.
Those selected will receive assistance to help support the development and implementation of their solutions – potentially leading to a pilot project with greenhouse growers. The Québec government has agreed to participate, contributing $50,000 per business or 50% of eligible expenses.
