C2M to Receive $5M in Innovation Funding
Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages accompanied by Lyne Bessette, Member of Parliament for Brome–Missisquoi, have announced $5 million in financial support for the MiQro Innovation Collaborative Center (C2MI). Mélanie Joly is also responsible for the Canada Economic Development for Québec Regions (CED).
C2MI are known for their microsystem design and prototyping, capable of meeting market needs in technology, health, and so on. In fact, they are the largest microelectronics R&D and commercialization centre in Canada as well as a renowned international innovation hub.
This $5 million funding will be directed towards the creation of two specialized positions and other more general positions in Québec. In addition, other Canadian SME;s will be able to use this innovative new technology.
This move by the Canadian Government is in accordance with their commitment to helping homegrown businesses successfully innovate and create quality jobs. This funding comes from the CED’s Regional Economic Growth through Innovation program which aims to help entrepreneurs leveraging innovation to grow their businesses.
