Fleming College to Receive $4M for New Aquaculture Centre

Ontario’s Fleming College is set to receive funding to help support their new Centre for Innovative Aquaculture Production (CIAP). Fleming College is ranked as one of Canada’s top research colleges, known for their expertise in environmental and ecological studies.

This innovation centre will be funded by:

Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
- Will provide $2 million in funding for research activities over the next 5 years.
Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and the Ontario Research Fund College-Industry Innovation Fund (ORF-CIIF)
- Will provide $2 million in funding to create the research spaces and fully-equipped laboratories.

CIAP is advancing innovation in aquaculture through partnerships with members of the industry and supporting sectors, such as fish feed producers and hatchery technology developers. A new custom-designed research facility will be built at the Frost Campus in Lindsay to complement the existing on-campus hatchery. The new CIAP building will provide customisable rearing environments for multiple aquaculture species and projects.
