$200M to Bolster Textile Innovation in Quebec
Melanie Joly, Canadian Minister in charge of Canadian Economic Development in the Quebec regions and Pablo Rodriguez, member of parliament for Honoré–Mercier, an electoral district in Quebec province, recently announced financial support totaling $2,052,046 for apparel research and innovation centre Vestechpro, technology transfer centre CTT Group and Metropolitan Fashion Cluster mode.
There are numerous businesses and organisations within the Montreal region which have brought forward innovative fabric and textiles. For example, apparel research and innovation centre, Vestechpro, is set to receive a contribution of $1251,040 which will help them acquire specialized cutting-edge technology to integrate with their existing infrastructure.
CTT Group, a multiservice centre for textile business development, will receive $601,006, also to go towards equipment that will support their developmental projects.
Finally, Metropolitan Fashion Cluster mmode, who works on creating business synergy and stimulating innovation, is set to receive $200,000.
This support will enable it to continue to structure the cluster’s network, a project also aimed at raising the Quebec fashion industry’s profile, stimulating innovation, enabling innovative SMEs in the sector to commercialise their products and services internationally and boosting their competitiveness.
